Importing Databases to Sports Dood Desktop

Recently I added capability to export plays and formation databases from the mobile apps so you can share entire databases instead of one at a time.  I have had a few emails asking how to import a database into the desktop app since there is currently no import capability.  Here is the workaround, below are the paths of where the DB’s are on both OSX and Windows.  Simply copy your database here and make sure to rename it to the correct database name.

OSX:  /Users/<userName>/Library/Application Support/com.sportsdood.desktop/Local Store

Windows:  C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\com.sportsdood.desktop\Local Store

Note that ‘animations’ is the play DB and ‘formations’ are for formations (duh?).  So for example, lets say I exported my plays from android and I name it ‘myplays.db’.

1. Close Sports Dood.  Navigate to the folder above
2. Locate ‘animationsHKY.db’ and rename that to something like ‘animationsHKYold.db’ (you could also delete it)
3. Copy in myplays.db
4. Rename myplays.db to animationsHKY.db
5. Reopen Sports Dood

The file names are pretty self explanatory, so the suffix indicates the Sport, so HKY is hockey, FB is Football, SCR is Soccer, BB is basketball, FH is Field Hockey, RG is Rugby, UL is Ultimate, VB is Volleyball and BaseB is Baseball.

  1. I’m getting a new phone I don’t want to lose my plays. I have android when they move apps and all data will sport dood still have my plays?

    1. You might want to back it up. First, your play images are saved to the card in the sports Dood folder, so if you have basketball, all images are in the basketball Dood folder. You also want to save a copy of the formation and play database. Hit the playbook icon, export dB, then plays out formations. Share that to email or something like Dropbox. This way you will have a back up. To import the DB, just open the email on your new phone, click on the dB file and open it in the app to import. How that helps, shot me an email if any questions
